Enslaved for most of his life and forced to fight in the colosseum for entertainment, Nhos, barbarian of Arta, is free at last. He has but one goal: to kill the man who sold him into slavery when he was a boy. Nhos will stop at nothing to track down the legendary broker known as the Contractor and squeeze the life from him.

But Nhos is just a man in a fantastic world of magic and wonder, of forces incomprehensible. The Contractor is armed with a magical axe that grants him the powers of a god. What can a simple barbarian hope to achieve when faced with inexplicable powers and insurmountable odds?
